Probably the most popular e-reader in the country, the Kindle is one of the most user friendly readers and has the largest selection of ebooks to choose from due to Amazon's massive online ebook collection.  Public library books for Kindle are now available for download from the Rapid City Public Library. 

There are several different versions of the Kindle e-readers on the market today, from the Kindle Keyboard 3G to the basic Kindle (picture below) and the new Kindle Paperwhite (see picture on right)

Kindle e-books are available, from any computer, when you visit our e-books webpage, search for a book, and select a Kindle edition (if we do not have one then feel free to request it).

Kindle features:
  • 6" E-Ink or Paperwhite displays
  • Wi-Fi only and Wi-Fi/3G connectivity models
  • Weight ranges from 6-8.5 ounces depending on model  
  • Paperwhite model has anti-glare backlit screen feature for reading at night
  • Up to 3,500 books can be stored 
  • Up to 2 months of battery life
  • Accepts ePub, PDF, TXT, DOC and more
  • Best for: Casual Readers, Newspaper/Magazines    browsers, On the go readers.

Note: Public library books require an active Wi-Fi connection for wireless delivery to a Kindle device.
